Several quick outages happened yesterday beginning around 2100 UTC (1:00pm PST, 4:00pm EST). The server was able to restart its own services and recover a few times, but around 0400 UTC (8:00pm PST, 12:00am EST) it became completely unresponsive and it was necessary for a technician at the data center to manually cycle the power.

It is believed this series of outages was due to an abnormally high amount of FTP activity, which eventually caused the server to run out of memory and go into kernel panic. Additional details will be posted here as they become available.
